Tent Camping

Tenting Camping Right on the Guadalupe River
Ditch the walls and sleep under the Texas sky. River Acres offers tent camping on twenty wooded acres along the Guadalupe River — private riverfront access, tall trees, and all the same great amenities as the rest of the park. This is outdoor living the way it’s supposed to be.
There’s something about waking up in a tent that just resets the whole clock. At River Acres, your tent site puts you right in the middle of twenty wooded acres of pecan, cypress, cottonwood, and willow trees, with the Guadalupe River just a short walk down the wooden boardwalks that wind through the wetlands. Set up camp, get the fire going, and let the sounds of the river take over.
Tent campers have full access to all of the River Acres amenities. Fish for perch, bass, and catfish right from the bank, launch a kayak or paddleboard into the Guadalupe, or just spend the afternoon on the water doing absolutely nothing in particular. The park is divided into four sections, each with its own fire pit, BBQ pit, and seating area so there’s always a good spot to gather when the sun goes down.
When you need to clean up, the showers and bathrooms are on-site and well-maintained. The community room is stocked with a full kitchen, shuffleboard, board games, laundry, and a book and video exchange. There’s also a country store and propane available on-site, a dog park for four-legged campers, and security cameras throughout the property.
And when the urge to explore kicks in, you’re perfectly positioned. Gonzales — the “Cradle of Texas Liberty” — is right down the road. Head to Shiner for a brewery tour, soak in the mineral waters at Ottine, or spend a day eating your way through San Antonio. River Acres is a mighty fine place to come back to when the day is done. Explore more of what the area has to offer.
